The 22-year-old Chinese player, who was seeded fifth at Wimbledon this year, claimed to have been "dealing with persistent pain" after losing in the opening round.

She stated, "Over the next few weeks and months, I'll be focusing entirely on rehab - doing everything I can to come back stronger and healthier."

I consider this brief pause to be a crucial step in becoming a better player on the court.

In 2024, she won the women's singles championship at the Olympics in Paris.

Although Zheng has never won a Grand Slam championship, she has advanced to the Australian Open final in 2024, the US Open quarterfinals thrice, and the French Open final eight this year.

That's a good decision, let her take time to rest and heal herself properly so she can come back stronger and better.

She is a very good player , see how she progresses after the break.

It is good to take a break or rest after such a surgery especially as it is an individual sport the Olympian is engaged in unlike in football that requires one to either retire or recover quickly to win their place in the team. After such a career the individual needs enough rest to recover fully and get back on track for future championships and Olympic.
