Have you considered opening a savings account for your kids? I opened one for my kid as soon as she was born. I won't tell her about it until she is responsible enough and mature enough to understand that the money isnt for fun but to help kick start her future.
In my country, every bank has a junior savings account that is intended for parents who want to save for their children. This type of junior savings cannot be withdrawn by the child himself even though he is over 17 years old, so he must be accompanied by his parents when opening a junior savings account.
A saving account for my kids is not negotiable. I must open a savings account for them as soon as they are born. Banks have all those programs nowadays.
I do not have any children, but I think it's a good idea to open a bank account for your kids. You can take the opportunity to educate them on savings.
