People that are optimistic always see positivity even when there might be no real sense of positivity. Realists are people that accept the true condition the way it is and won't make much attempt to change it.

Being an optimist or a realist, which is best for a business person?

I think it is to be optimistic. you have the hope that things will turn out right even when you don't know how that would happened

Pretty much what i wanted to say, a business owner actually needs both to succeed, there needs to be some level of balance.

I would prefer to approach business realistically than approach it being overly optimistic. Too much optimism can lead to taking too many risks that are not calculated.
