According to the report, more than 40,000 people were shot in the United States in 2025, resulting in over 14,600 deaths and at least 26,100 injuries, according to preliminary data released Thursday by the Gun Violence Archive (GVA).
The report stated that a nonprofit group, which was formed in 2013 to provide free public access to accurate information on gun-related violence in the US, recorded at least 407 mass shooting incidents during the year.
The report also stated that the data showed that gun violence continued to affect minors, with 224 children aged 11 and below killed and 461 wounded. Among adolescents aged 12 to 17, at least 1,030 were killed, while 2,733 sustained injuries.
However, citing preliminary estimates from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the group said more than 24,000 firearm-related suicides were recorded in 2025.
Additionally, despite a steady decline in shooting-related deaths and injuries over the past four years, the figures indicate that gun violence remains widespread, excluding suicides, in which more than 110 people were killed or injured by gunfire each day on average in 2025, according to local media reports.
