Parents with no income have to be supported by their children financially. It becomes a very pathetic situation when the children are not well off and are themselves hard pressed, living their lives from hand to mouth. I have seen many such cases in India, especially in the poorer section.

Not just in India but I guess it happens everywhere. The children won't be able to do much since they are also struggling. Which is why it is the prayer of every parent that their kids do well financially.

That is correct. If parents are still able to work, they should not depend completely on their children for support. Children should not feel pressured to help their parents, especially if they are also facing financial problems. This is why it is vital for parents to be financially prepared/stable before having children.

What a shame to the parents giving their children headaches because they do not have a means of living. They should have paid for their pension so when they are old, they can rely on their monthly pension.
