Part of central New York City is locked down due to a shooting incident

From New York, USA. report, police swarmed Midtown Manhattan on Monday as the mayor of New York City said there was “an active shooter investigation” amid reports that a police officer had been struck.

The report said that there was an active shooter investigation taking place in Midtown, and people are advised to take proper safety precautions if they are in the vicinity and not to go outside if they are near Park Avenue and East 51st Street.

CNN reported that a police officer and at least one civilian had been shot, but AFP was unable to immediately confirm who the suspect or shooter was. Investigation is ongoing.
