PH slips to No. 4 in banana export ranking

According to the report, the Philippines dropped by one notch to fourth place among the world’s top global banana exporters in 2024 as shipments fell by 3 percent due to inclement weather and a plant disease outbreak.

In a report, the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said the country’s ranking as a banana producer had fallen from third in 2023 to fourth last year, trailing behind Ecuador, Guatemala, and Colombia.

The weather here is fluctuating. Many banana plantations experienced losses whenever there is extreme heat. Last year, my country a heat index that reached to 52 degrees Celcius. I hope this year the heat wave is not severe during summer.

I will know it in March up to June. These months are summer months. We do not like to experience another extreme heat that soars our electric bills. We need aircons and fans.

That's amazing . I love bananas but the price is too costly. Perhaps, i will relocate to Phillipines for the sake of banana. I can eat bananas for one week straight without eating any other thing.

Well, I don't think the country is still doing badly. it's just a step below which I do t think it is anything significant

At least my country ranks number 4 banana exporter. There are many banana plantations here. People also plant banana in their backyatds. At home there are 4 bananas planted by my sister in our backyard lol.

I didn't know that the Philippines are giant producers and exporters of bananas. That is a good source of external revenue to the economy.
