According to the report, elite soldiers of the Philippine Army (PA) demonstrated their military free fall and airborne capabilities during the New Year Jump in Indo-Pacific 2025 in Japan. This is the PA's first time to participate in the annual activity. In a statement Thursday, PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said the Army Airborne delegation, headed by their vice commander Maj. Gen. Leodevic Guinid took part in the annual jump from Jan. 11 to 12 at the 1st Airborne Brigade, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), Camp Narashino, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

The report said that "Maj. Gen. Guinid, along with Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) Commander Brig. Gen. Rosendo Abad Jr. led the airborne troopers in demonstrating PA's military free fall and airborne capabilities, manifesting the PA's readiness to conduct airborne operations in special operations to support territorial defense operations," he added. Shortly after the event, a simulated air assault exercise followed, joined by units from the US Army, US Marine Corps, US Air Force, Singaporean Army, Australian Army, Royal Netherlands Army, French Army, Canadian Army, British Army, Polish Land Forces, Italian Army, German Army, and 1st Airborne Brigade, JGSDF.

The report added that the simulation showcased the capabilities and synchronized collaborations of the Indo-Pacific nations in addressing common threats in the region. The annual activity, which started in 1974, is aimed at praying for the safety of airborne jumps throughout the year.

In addition to the report, "The activity also aims to build relationships of trust, as well as to strengthen cooperation among the Airborne Forces, and disseminate strategic messages to contribute to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific Region," Dema-ala said.
