A police officer has been shot and critically injured in the US state of Philadelphia by unknown assailants. Initial investigation and witness accounts have revealed that the officer was on traffic duty when a man carrying a holster tried to escape a vehicle the Philadelphia Police had stopped on suspicion of unusual activity.
