According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, a minor phreatomagmatic eruption occurred at Taal Volcano in Batangas, Philippines, on Tuesday. The eruption lasted for four minutes and took place at 5:58 AM. Teresito Bacolcol, the director of the institute, informed the Manila Times that the event generated a grayish plume reaching heights of 2,800 meters. The alert level for the volcano remains at Level 1. A phreatomagmatic eruption takes place when magma mixes with water, resulting in explosive eruptions.
