From Butuan City, Philippines, report, The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Agusan del Sur reported on Wednesday the quick recovery of the province's first confirmed mpox (formerly monkeypox) patient.
The report said that the patient is now recovering from the symptoms caused by mpox,” Dr. Annie Abordo-Dioso, PHO infectious disease specialist, said during a radio program hosted by the provincial government.
The report also said that the Department of Health (DOH) 13 (Caraga Region) provided support to the PHO for the patient's medication. The medications were administered to the patient twice daily for 14 days,” she said, adding that based on their regular medical monitoring, the patient has shown no adverse reaction to treatment.
In addition to the report, the first mpox case in Agusan del Sur had a travel history to Davao City. He developed a pimple-like rash on his face and consulted a doctor. He was immediately put in isolation while waiting for lab test results, which eventually came back positive for mpox.
The PHO urged residents to stay vigilant and practice respiratory etiquette, as well as frequent handwashing and disinfecting surfaces.
