Phone number in bank account changed

I have an old bank account, opened almost twenty years ago, I was not using it regularly since it was a current account for business in another state. Since there was a problem of verifying the current account I used, I decided to use the other bank account, and I find that the phone number linked to the bank account has been changed by some fraudster. Has anyone changed the phone number linked to your bank account anytime?

No, I have not encountered such a situation. The banks here have proper security procedures if you need to update your personal details including address, telephone number and email address.

I have never come across something like this before, and it is something I really hope to never experience – having a fraudster change the phone number in my bank account and get access to other personal details.

How could that happen when the bank account is yours. That's a big crime, you can sue the bank. It's not happening here in the Philippines.

Unless the fraudster is someone working in the bank where you have account, phone number in your bank account cannot be changed.

It's somewhat alarming, someone close to you might have access to your bank account. Share with us here the feedback from the bank. Ask the manager the possible fraudster employed in the bank.

For me l have never experienced that kind case of scenario for that matter. Immediately l see that l would block that account almost instantaneously.

There is something fishy in that bank. How could that happen another person owning your bank account. It's never happening in the Philippines.

I don't think it's possible for anyone to change the number in your bank account, unless they have your personal bank details.

Inform your bank about the situation. They may need to freeze the account or take additional steps to secure it.

How could that be possible. You are the owner of your bank account and only you know your account number. The bank could be sued for negligence. But it never happened here in the Philippines. So India has a lot of anomalies.

Change of phone number on your bank account should be a kind of inside job mostly by the bank staff themselves. I have never experienced this though
