According to the report, the 81-year-old man who was wrongfully imprisoned in a case of mistaken identity will receive compensation. There was a mistake, but that person can now invoke the compensation. There is a law in the Philippines that compensates those wrongfully convicted.

The report also said that the amount of compensation will depend on the decision of the concerned court. Regarding the questions raised in connection with the old man’s arrest, the PNP Chief will check the details of the incident

In a statement, the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL) condemned the arrest and six-month detention of Prudencio Cebu “Tatay Pruding” Calubid Jr., who was “wrongfully and maliciously imprisoned” for insurgency. But the real criminal who has the same name as him is an alleged high-ranking officer of the Communist Party of the Philippines–New People's Army ( NPA).

In addition to the report, a P7.8-million reward was offered for the real Prudencio Calubid’s capture. This wanted NPA was in hiding since 2006.

It is well, one of the most painful things out there is to be wrongly accused about something you didn't do.
Yes it's true. The case of this old man imprisoned without valid evidence is a pure nut of the police who captured and sentenced the old man wrongly. It's better for the family to sue the police and judge. That's a problem if there are two persons having the same name like the case of this old man.

I don't think money can compensate with the time he spent in the prison. This is a blunder and police should have investigated wisely.
Supposed to be. The old man lose his face or reputation, plus the suffering inside the prison cell for six months considering his age. The government must compensate him in millions.

Yes that's right, cause imagine the time wasted and worse the stigma that might have faced, all for something they never actually did.

How could an old man be an NPA at his age, 81? The police officers who captured him are all nuts. The family should apply for a countersuit against the police officers and the city court judge.
