Police: Father of girl who abandoned newborn baby in Walmart bathroom impregnated her

From the Kingsville, Texas report, the father of a teenage girl who allegedly abandoned her newborn child in the trash can of a Walmart bathroom after giving birth was arrested and accused of impregnating his daughter.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by local outlet KILL, Walmart employees found the infant in the bathroom after the teenager spent around 40 minutes in the room before leaving covered in blood.

The report said that the 17-year-old was brought in for questioning, and her father, 45-year-old Jerry Lee Martinez, was arrested, initially only facing a charge of abandoning or endangering a child with criminal negligence, per the outlet.

The report added that during the police investigation, she told the police that it was her father who impregnated her. She was assaulted by her father when she was 15 and was sexually assaulted many times for two years. He was the father f her child

In addition to the report, the girl claimed that Martinez drove her to Mexico to have the pregnancy terminated, which is why the child was stillborn when it was born in the Walmart bathroom, the outlet reported. He allegedly hit her in the stomach on multiple occasions after learning she was pregnant.

Martinez was reportedly placed under house arrest and ordered to have no contact with family outside of his home, and his daughter was placed in a safe location.

At least after the girl was out of the hospital, the investigation resumed and the police learned that it was her father who impregnated her. Her father brought her to another place to abort the fetus but failed.
