President Mutharika Inaugurates Salima-Lilongwe Water Pipeline
In a landmark event for water security,President Arthur Peter Mutharika officially commissioned the long-awaited Salima-Lilongwe Water Pipeline on December 26. The project, funded through a partnership with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will pump 50,000 cubic meters of water daily from Lake Malawi to the capital. Speaking at the ceremony in Lilongwe, Mutharika hailed the pipeline as a "transformative solution" to the city's chronic water shortages. The Lilongwe Water Board assured residents that phased connections will begin in Area 18 and surrounding sectors within the next fortnight
