President of Nigeria to announce new minimum wage on worker's day

There's a speculation that President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria may announce the new minimum wage on May 1 in commemoration of the International Labour Day

There's a report that the National Minimum Wage Committee is working to ensure that all negotiations regarding this is finalised before then so that the the President can announce the new minimum wage in his Workers’ Day address.

If the new minimum wage is indeed announced on May Day, that is a very good move because life has become difficult and people need real support from above. Let the committee complete those negotiations early so that workers can get a little relief from their wages. When people get something meaningful, they will feel that the government cares about them and that builds trust in the citizens. As the saying goes, patience eats sweet things and if we wait, we believe that the fruits will come.

That's only speculations. The government supposed to increase the wages of the Nigerian workers yearly. Why is it that it's done only once in a blue moon.
