For me whenever l connect my mobile devices with the WiFi, the internet speed seems to reduce so drastically that it loads the pages so slower that l revert to the mobile data subscriptions. I wonder what might be causing that.

I find that Wifi connections are often hacked, and data is stolen , so the connection becomes very slow especially if the mobile is an older model. So trying using a newer model of mobile for your Wifi connection.
I had one of my smartphones that l gave it out to my friend. The phone wouldn't connect to the WiFi at all.

The Wi-Fi connection can be intermittent, especially during rain or when more people are using the internet. This often results in slower speeds, which can be frustrating, especially when you are in the middle of something important.
For me during the time when l was working, l couldn't use the free WiFi that was being provided by the company to work online because it had too many downtimes.
If it is a public wifi connection, it is certain that it would be slow. If it is not, just check the source of internet.
