The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the Nov. 8 governorship election in Anambra with 422,664 votes
Prof. Edoba Omoregie, Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, made the declaration at the commission’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday

Personally, I believe that the declaration of Professor Charles Soludo as the winner of the elections in Anambra is an important step toward political stability in the region. Transparency in the electoral process, such as that demonstrated by INEC, is fundamental to strengthening citizens' trust in democratic institutions. However, I also believe there is always a need to ensure that the entire process is completely fair and free from irregularities. The participation of different actors and constant oversight help maintain the legitimacy of the results. In this case, it appears that the authorities have fulfilled their duty, and that is positive. I hope that, with this new leadership, Anambra can move forward on issues of development and well-being for its inhabitants, always ensuring that future elections are even more transparent and participatory. Democracy requires trust and commitment from everyone.
