Protesters in Nepal have set fire to the residences of several senior political figures in response to a recent ban on social media platforms. The ban, which was lifted early on Tuesday, had sparked widespread demonstrations across the country.

According to local news outlets and footage shared online, demonstrators targeted the homes of prominent leaders in Kathmandu and surrounding areas. Authorities have imposed a curfew in the capital and other cities to restore order, and schools in Kathmandu remain closed on Tuesday.

The homes affected include those of Sher Bahadur Deuba, the head of Nepal’s largest political party; President Ram Chandra Poudel; Interior Minister Ramesh Lekhak; and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leader of the Communist Party of Nepal. Additionally, a private school owned by Foreign Minister Arzu Deuba Rana was also set on fire.
