Scrolling through social media can lead to impulsive purchases. As you scroll the feed, you will be bombard with ads and you are tempted to buy the products advertised on the ads. If you limit your social media uses, you will be less exposed to ads thus helping you to minimize your temptation to buy things or make impulsive purchase decision. This will ultimately, lead to better financial decisions.

I do use social media once a day and do buy things that a loaded there but only if they are useful to me.

Self discipline and self control help me reduce my spending from items I see on display on Facebook Market Place. There are many appealing items displayed there. What I do, forcing the self not to open the market place on Facebook and those ads via videos. They are tempting me.
