I am thrilled to hear that a Robocop statue has been unveiled in Detroit after fifteen years of controversy. This massive two and a half ton statue is located outside the Free Age Studios in Eastern Market. It depicts the real Robocop as seen in the 1987 film. This is a great tribute to the science fiction and film fans who fought tirelessly to see this dream come true in their neighborhood.
This statue started as an online joke in 2011 after the Mayor rejected the idea. Fans were outraged and started a fundraising campaign to make the artwork a reality. It reminds me that collaboration and commitment can make a huge difference in life.
