According to the report, a once chart-topping musician was stabbed to death in prison while serving a 29-year-long sentence for child sex crimes.
According to a police statement, a 48-year-old Ian Watkins was stabbed to death on the morning of October 11. Watkins rose to fame as the lead singer of Welsh rock band Lostprophets after the band released their third album "Liberation Transmission," which topped the United Kingdom charts in 2006.
Police reportedly said two men had been arrested in connection to the murder, ages 23 and 43, but no additional information was released.
The report also said that Watkins was sentenced to 29 years in prison in 2013 after he was convicted of 13 child sex offenses, including attempting to rape a baby, sexually abusing a 1-year-old, and encouraging a fan to make child pornography with her child, per the Associated Press.
Additionally, two of the mothers of children Watkins abused were convicted of child abuse and sentenced to 14 and 17 years, respectively, according to the BBC.
The band broke up immediately after Watkins was convicted in 2013. An attempt was made on Watkins' life ten years later in 2023, but he ultimately survived the ordeal.
