The Russian Football Federation through it's social media handle has announced that it intends to host a soccer world cup for countries that couldn't make it to the 2026 world cup. It is potentially going to run summer next year alongside the 2026 FIFA world cup.

Russia is already missing football. Why don't they embrace peace and get back to enjoy everything including international sports participation?

And I saw Nigeria as one of the countries billed to participate in that counter tournament. I know many countries won't participate in such a tournament.

I doubt if those countries would join considering the ongoing war with Ukraine. Drones and missiles are always rocking Russia. Who knows if the source of their electricity will be hit by a drone or a missile, athletes and Russians may cry fowl.
