According to the report, on the morning of June 27, a raid was conducted in more than ten apartments in Yekaterinburg where Azerbaijanis live. Most members of the Safarov family, originally from Agdam, were detained. Two brothers, Zieddin and Guseyn Safarov, were killed during the raid. Three more people were hospitalized. As a result, their cousin Kamal Safarov was dead. As a result of the operation carried out by OMON, two more members of the Safarov family - Ayaz Mehbali oglu Safarov and his brother Mazahir Mehbali oglu Safarov - died in the hospital. Thus, the number of Azerbaijanis killed in Yekaterinburg as a result of yesterday's attack has reached five. Baku expressed concern over the detention and death of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg on June 27. The Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that they were “carrying out a series of measures as part of the investigation of criminal cases on crimes committed in previous years.”The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called on Russia to investigate the detentions of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. Baku expressed concern “in connection with the death of compatriots, the serious injuries some of them received, as well as the detention of nine people as a result of a special operation by the Russian FSB in the homes of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg on the morning of June 27.

The report also stated that they expect Russia to conduct an urgent investigation into this case and bring those responsible for this unacceptable violence to justice as soon as possible," the Foreign Ministry said. The press services of the regional Investigative Committee and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region told RBC that they were "carrying out a series of measures as part of the investigation of criminal cases on crimes of past years," during which "many individuals were detained on suspicion of committing several crimes that occurred in past years on the territory of Yekaterinburg," and their homes were searched. In particular, they came to the Baku Plaza shopping center with searches. According to Ura.ru, the day before in Yekaterinburg, security forces detained more than 50 natives of Azerbaijan, some of whom were released after an investigative action.
