Most people are in tight financial situations. Imagine that one has kids in school and also lives in a rental apartment.

At the same period, the school fees for the kids are due, and house rent is also due.

Which one would you prioritize to pay first?

In a situation like this, I believe the most important thing is to prioritize expenses that guarantee basic stability and security, such as housing. Without a place to live, everything else becomes much more difficult and stressful. Housing is fundamental because without it, the situation becomes much more complicated, especially when there are children involved. School expenses are important, but in reality, without secure housing, you can't maintain a stable environment for children. Furthermore, in many cases, rent arrears can lead to legal problems or even the loss of the home, which would be even more detrimental. That's why, in my opinion, you should pay the rent first to ensure you have a secure roof over your head, and then look for alternatives to cover school expenses, even if that means seeking additional help or renegotiating payment plans. Household stability is paramount in these cases.

The house rent would be the most reasonable thing. This is where the kids can sleep. Once this is sorted out, they can fight for the school fees.
