Seeing a person that owed you money for a long time and absconded. What would you do?

Yesterday, I mistakenly ran into a person that has been owing me some significant amount of money and absconded for five years now. I insisted that he must pay me my money there and then.

What would you do if someone is owing you for five years and absconded, then you mistakenly ran into him or her?

I would make sure that I engage security operatives to ensure the person signs an undertaking stating when he or she would pay me.

That depends on whether you have signed a contract with him when you lent him the money. If there is a contract, you can take legal action against him.

Not only running away, many people who have debts pretend to forget that they owe you. But in your case personally I have my own considerations, if their economic/financial situation is sad and it is impossible to pay and he is honest that he is unable to pay then I will be willing to write off the debt. but if their financial situation is good such as having a nice house, car etc., then I will make a summons, if the summons is not smooth then it will be fought by legal means or the courts.

To be honest it depends on my mode or on how I feel that period. Yes I will be angry but I won't fight them over eat.
