I always believe in niching a business but people say that when you sell a wide range of products, you would hardly lack money. My friend sells shoes, fish, perfume and so many other things.

Do you think one should sell so many things at a time or just sell a few things they can be known for?

Selling a wide range of products may seem like a good way to attract more customers and generate more revenue, but it can also create challenges. Marketing a broad selection can be tricky, and maintaining consistent quality across all items can be a daunting task.

Every entrepreneur has different tastes and principles, there are also many sellers who only sell one product such as selling rice but there are various types of rice available, there are also electronic specialty stores that sell TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, etc. In choosing products to sell, they should not be mixed, such as selling shoes and also selling fish, of course the room will smell of fish.

Focusing on a particular niche is better, you can spread out to other areas only when you have been able grow one niche to a reasonable level.
I feel you my brother. Trying to handle different products at a time in business might just distract you. When they know you for one kind of products, you can move to the other one.

I agree on that, once you've gained a solid group of loyal customers and built up your reputation, you can think about branching out into selling different products.
