A good way to succeed in business is to sell products that aren't already saturated. It's hard to sell something if everyone else is already selling it. But if you're determined and have lots of money for advertising, you might still sell saturated products. Well, let me give you an example. There are tons of smartphones out there, but new companies keep selling more by advertising a lot.

If there is a huge market for a product, even the saturated products get sold and make profitable business. Like your example of smartphone, the market is of a very huge consumer base and even with so many players in the market, each one is getting enough profits. Similarly with clothing and fashion, every business player in the market are getting enough consumers to patronize them.

I have seen that there are many businesses that are doing good because they brought something unique to their products. Though the product is saturated one in the market, their uniqueness gives them an extra edge and they cash that. My friend provides home made fresh juices and dosa batter. There are many in the market, but her uniqueness is to have the juice or batter ready only when you order and the delivery is within 15 minutes for juice and the next day for batter ( as it needs fermentation). She just uses the residents within 2 km of her house. Despite very limited distance, she is doing very good. People are happy with healthy home made juices with no sugar and preservatives.
