According to the latest sources, at least 2,700 people have been injured, and around 300 North Korean soldiers have died while fighting in Ukraine. This information comes from Seoul's intelligence service. Seoul alleges that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has sent over 10,000 soldiers to act as "cannon fodder" in support of Russia's offensive on Ukraine. In exchange, Russia has supplied technological support to North Korea's tightly sanctioned satellite systems and weapons.
The Ukrainian president recently detained two North Korean soldiers. Following a briefing from the intelligence agency, lawmaker Lee Seong-kweun briefed reporters that the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia has apparently spread to the Kursk region, with estimates estimating that deaths among North Korean personnel may have exceeded 3,000. Furthermore, it has been stated that troops are being told to commit suicide rather than be imprisoned.
The Ukrainian president claimed that "Ukraine is ready to hand over Kim Jong Un's soldiers to him if he can arrange for the exchange of our troops who are being held prisoner in Russia."
