People save emergency fund so that they can have what to fall back on in case something detrimental happens that they can't earn money again.

Should emergency funds cover the costs of just survival or the savings should also include the cost of comfort?

Personally, I believe an emergency fund should cover more than just basic survival. It's important that it also includes expenses related to comfort and emotional stability, such as maintaining a healthy diet, paying for health insurance, and covering basic housing and transportation costs. The idea of simply having enough money to survive might be sufficient in an extreme crisis, but living in constant stress because you can't afford things that make you feel safe and secure isn't healthy in the long run. Furthermore, unexpected events aren't always just about survival; they're also about maintaining a certain quality of life and preventing a minor problem from escalating into a major one. Therefore, I believe a balanced emergency fund should cover basic needs but also provide a degree of peace of mind and well-being, allowing you to face adversity with dignity and without unnecessary anxiety.
