Imagine that you own a business and have staff. And the vast majority of your staff prefer this particular one staff to always serve them when they are other competent staff. Should it be a source of concern to me as a business owner?

Yes, as an employer, you should be concerned if an employee is the majority favorite, because favoritism can create a toxic environment, demotivate the rest of the team, and affect productivity. It's important to foster equity and provide merit-based opportunities to avoid conflict and maintain a healthy and engaged group.

While this is normal in most cases, i believe you should be worried because if that staff decides to leave it might affect your business. What you should do is try to engage other staffs as well.
