I just had a chat with my neighbor’s son he’s 12 and he told me he’s been making pocket money online. At first I thought he was joking, but no, he actually helps his older brother edit YouTube videos and gets a cut. Not bad for a middle schooler, right?
It made me realize how different things are now. Kids are starting small businesses before they even hit high school. Some are selling crafts online (with their parents’ help), some are posting art or gaming content, and others are just trying out apps that give little rewards ,honestly, I think it’s kind of cool, but I also wonder do you think it’s too early, or is it a good way to learn about money management young?

I think that’s actually a pretty good way for kids to start learning the value of money early on. If a 12-year-old is helping edit videos or selling crafts with supervision, it’s not just about earning a few bucks, it’s about gaining skills that could really pay off later in life. Learning how to manage time, be creative, and even split earnings teaches responsibility in a way school sometimes doesn’t. Of course, it has to be balanced—kids still need to enjoy being kids, not feel pressured to “work” all the time. As long as parents guide them and make sure they’re safe online, I’d say it’s a positive thing. Honestly, I wish I had started that young, I’d have avoided a lot of mistakes with money management later on. It’s like training wheels for financial independence.

This is a very interesting story! A 12-year-old child editing videos and earning an income is a sign of the great changes of this generation. Technology has opened the doors very early for creativity and entrepreneurship.

Although it is early, it is not bad at all. With the help of parents, children learn the value of work, financial discipline, and responsibility. This is a school of life before formal school.

If they are supported and guided well, they not only earn money, but also build the foundations for a better future. It is truly inspiring! 💡👏

In this digital age, kids are smart in making use of technology to make some money. Actually, in our city, children at the age of 15 can be employed by a company. But there are certain conditions such as no overtime work, maximum 8 hours day.

Yeah true kids a re smart more than us when we were kids i always feel like we were robbed when we were young this technology should long be there

I don't think there is anything wrong with a kid of this age making money, the most important thing is that they are being monitored, and are doing the right thing.

My nephew, age 11, has already learned to earn money through watching videos and playing games. His mom, my sister, taught his son ( my nephew) to earn and save. I started earning money when I was 11. I sold candies and lollipops in our garage.

In some cases, the parents or other relatives are doing all the work, and then falsely claiming that their children are doing the work, because the parents have a full time job.
Why would they do all the work and claim their children did it? How would this benefit the children in anyway? I haven't seen cases like this before though.
