Should one let his/ her boss know that they are running by the side?

Even for us that are into full time employment, it is always advised that we should have another source and stream of income. Some full time employees have found a way to run businesses by the side.

Should a full time employee let his or her boss know about their side business? Why and why not?

Dicey situation. If your side business would have any effect on your full time job, it is best you discuss it with your boss so that you guys can work things out.

If the policy of your full time job is against you having another income source from the job, don't let your boss know as long as it doesn't affect your full time work.

I think the most important thing is that it does not affect your job. As long as it does not affect your job, I think there is any need telling your boss.

I don't think it is a nice idea to discuss such with your boss it would better to just run the side business but don't allow it affects your full time job

Letting your boss know about your side hustle is dependent on the kind of boss you have. For a sadist boss, never let them know.

I think that depends on the bosses in question. Most bosses don't like the Idea of staffs to own their businesses so that they concentrate at work only.

What matters most is your side job does not affect the performance of your full time job. If you can manage it, I think there is no need to tell your boss deliberately.
