According to Malacañang Palace, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is set to visit the Philippines from June 4 to 5 for a two-day official visit following his reappointment last month. The visit was is upon the invitation of President Marcos. This is also the first visit of the Singapore Prime Minister.
The two leaders will hold a bilateral talk on today, Wednesday, June 4 they will be discussing about cooperation in key areas such as health, climate change mitigation, and civil service cooperation, among others.
Singapore remains a key economic partner of the Philippines and in 2024, it was the country’s eighth largest trading partner. Singapore also hosts an estimated 220, 000 Filipinas, making it significant destination for overseas Filipino workers.
The last visit of the previous Prime Minster was eight years go.
