I was so stunned when a close friend of mine appealed to me to invest in her boutique. Managing a boutique was my passion and it died when the pandemic hurt the world. It was also my first plan business to operate a boutique online but I landed instead selling Printed T-shirts and branded shoes online. This day, my friend appeals to me to invest and I am so sure of her intention, she lacks capital and wants me to invest so she can officially operate a boutique which is also her passion.

I told her of the conditions and one is to reflect in the Memorandum of Agreement the profit of my capital and how many months or years will my investment capital will be returned together with the interest or profit. Also the MOA must be notarized by a prosecutor.

Why should there be MOA? She wants me to invest $ 5000. My money is not a joke, I worked hard for it to achieve. I told her to come back once she agrees with the content of the Memorandum of Agreement or Understanding.

I will not advice you to avoid doing business with family friends and family members. It is too risky because the family members will takes your friendly disposition for granted. Secondly, it will hurt your relationship with them. You better invest in well organised investment companies and government approved investment schemes!

I am still hesitant. I surveyed the proposed location of the boutique, the possible target market, and foremost the personal financial background of my friend. She might have some secret agenda. I must be cautious. If she won't come to approve my conditions, then her approach might be fishy.
