Staff travelled for Christmas but she doesn't know when she is coming back. Should I look for her replacement?

It is Christmas break and a staff of a small business travelled out of the city. When asked the day she would be returning, she said she doesn't know.

Is it safe for the business to start looking for her replacement as Dr might not come back?

I think that is irresponsible of her not to give a return date. I will definitely look for a replacement.

This is a dicey situation.the person not having a fixed date of coming back doesn't mean the person might not come back. You can wait it out

It is risky to wait it out. How can a staff leave her workplace in such suspense. That's really unfair.
