2-1 win over South Africa

Alozie?s last-minute strike sends Nigeria into WAFCON final with 2-1 win over South Africa

Michelle Alozie scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to send the Super Falcons into the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana on Tuesday, July 22.

With the match seemingly heading for extra time, Alozie floated in a long cross in the 94th minute that caught the South African goalkeeper off guard and bounced straight into the net, sealing the win in sensational fashion

Rasheedat Ajibade had earlier given Nigeria the lead in the 44th minute from the penalty spot after a South African defender handled a cross by Folashade Ijamilusi. South Africa equalised in the 59th minute through Linda Motlhalo, who converted from the spot after Osinachi Ohale conceded a penalty.

This win is a very good one for the team and the country at large especially as it comes over a butter rival in south Africa who were the winners of this competition the last time out beating Morocco but this year Nigeria who are 9 times champions are going take it a 10.

The women team when it comes to football in Nigeria has been doing pretty well for a long time now, so am not even surprised. Congratulations to them.

Nigeria have been very lucky. The goal by Alozie is simply by all standard unexpected luck. Well, Nigeria should do more to beat the the host country!
They have finally been beaten.3-2 it is a victory time for Nigeria. Congrats my dear country
