The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notices to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on a plea filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED is challenging a trial court order that refused to take cognisance of its money-laundering complaint against the Gandhis in the National Herald case. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the ED, argued before Justice Ravinder Dudeja that the trial court erred in failing to appreciate that cognisance taken by a competent court on a private complaint carries a higher legal standing than a mere FIR.
