Suspected transformer vandal electrocuted at Borno varsity
A suspected vandal was electrocuted while attempting to tamper with a transformer at the Borno State University, Maiduguri.


The lifeless body of the unidentified man was discovered near the transformer within the university premises on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025.

The spokesperson of the command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the body has been evacuated to the hospital.

“The Borno State Police Command wishes to inform the public that today, 7/9/2025, the body of an unidentified male was discovered near a transformer in Borno State University, Maiduguri. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was electrocuted in an attempt to vandalize electrical installations,” the statement read.

That was sad, he committed a crime that caused his electrocution. He did not know that it was dangerous.

I really don't understand why people would try to steal a transformer, when they don't even have any knowledge about wires.
