In a significant political development in West Bengal, suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir announced on December 22, 2025, his plans to launch a new political party. Kabir was suspended by the TMC on December 4 after he announced plans to construct a mosque named 'Babri Masjid' in the Beldanga area of Murshidabad district.
He laid the foundation stone for the mosque on December 11. The MLA stated that his new party would provide a platform for the marginalised people of the state and expressed willingness to ally with the CPI(M), the Congress, and the Indian Secular Front (ISF). "I am inviting those who are against Mamata Banerjee and the BJP to join hands," Kabir said.
