The head of the Swiss army, Thomas Suessli, has issued a scathing indictment of the country's lack of cunning in the face of a major military attack on the ground. He said they are good at fighting bandits or cyber-attacks, but when it comes to defending the country against bigger enemies like Russia, the situation is still very bad. Suessli claims that his army has such huge equipment gaps that only one in three soldiers has the full gear to fight if things suddenly go wrong.

The recently retired leader has dismissed the concept of relying on 'neutrality' or not being aligned with any side as an old-fashioned fix that is not worth the bullet. He says history shows that many countries that claimed to be neutral but did not have weapons were badly attacked. Currently, Switzerland is planning to buy F-35A fighter jets and upgrade their tanks, but those plans are stalled due to budget constraints and many people not taking the threat of war seriously.

Although the government has planned to increase military spending gradually, Suessli has dismissed the move as too hasty and will not help. He says that if they continue at this pace, the army will be ready by 2050, which is very dangerous for national security at the moment. The expert insists that real security requires long rice and strong weapons on the streets so that the country can be respected and fully defend itself against anyone who brings trouble.
