I found that the government tax information summary contained incorrect information and when I checked with the bank, they claim that the information they have does not contain the incorrect information. How could the government tax information summary of some citizens be tampered?

Government tax summaries can show incorrect or tampered information for several reasons. Common causes include simple human error during data entry, mismatched personal identifiers (name spelling, ID number, birth date), or failed imports when banks, employers, or payroll providers send bulk files. Technical issues—synchronization failures between systems, corrupted uploads, or software mapping errors—also create discrepancies. More serious possibilities are insider tampering, weak access controls on tax portals, or a cyber breach that allows attackers to alter records to hide fraud. Sometimes delays in processing mean bank records and tax summaries are temporarily out of sync.
What to do: collect your bank statements, payslips and any submission receipts; request an audit trail and certified copies from the tax authority; ask your bank for transaction-level details and reference codes; file a formal discrepancy report in writing; demand a documented correction; and escalate to a regulator, ombudsman, or legal advisor if the mismatch affects taxes, refunds, or benefits.
