According to the report, a teenager was arrested after he allegedly shot his parents, lived with their bodies for days and sent texts from his father's phone, and made plans to flee the country to Ukraine. According to a criminal complaint from Waukesha County, 17-year-old Nikita Casap was arrested weeks after he allegedly shot and killed his parents, 35-year-old Tatiana Casap and 51-year-old Donald Mayer (stepfather), with a .357 Magnum on Feb. 11.
Police eventually tracked Casap down using his credit card purchases and cell phone pings from his parents' phones, and investigated the contents of his phone upon apprehension, per the complaint. Police said they found conversations between Casap and "a male in Russia" that indicated the teen intended to run away to Ukraine after the crime.
Casap was charged with a litany of crimes, including first-degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse, theft, and identity theft, and his bail was set at $1 million.
