Rocelo Lopes' proposal to "tether" Argentina instead of dollarizing it strikes me as a very interesting debate. In a country where inflation and a loss of confidence in the peso are constant problems, the idea of using USDT as a means of payment offers clear advantages: faster transactions, lower logistics costs, and greater traceability. Furthermore, it wouldn't depend on US government approval, making it a more autonomous option. However, there are also risks. The lack of a solid regulatory framework in Argentina could open the door to security problems and money laundering. And while USDT is popular, doubts remain about its full dollar backing. In my opinion, tethering could be a practical short-term solution, but it requires clear rules and institutional trust to function sustainably.
