The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State, Most Rev’d Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has confirmed that terrorists abducted 227 students and teachers on Friday from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri.
Yohanna, who also serves as the Catholic Bishop of Kontogora Diocese, said the abducted included 215 students and 12 teachers.

“I have just returned from the village tonight after visiting the school, where I met with parents to assure them that we are working closely with the government and security agencies to ensure our children are safely rescued,” he stated.
He added, “Some students managed to escape during the attack, and parents have begun picking up their children as the school remains closed.”
Leadership reports that the state government and security agencies have not yet provided an official update on the number of abducted persons since the incident.
