The customer didn't allow me to complete the job. Should I get payment from her still?

This happened to my friend. He was contracted to do a job for his client. As he just started the job, the client called that he should stop work on the order. The client is coming to take her materials bought for the job. Should the guy demand the client make payment still for the little effort done?

Yes! He should be paid at least some part of the money. If there is a contract, the client have breached the terms of the contract and must compensate your friend.

If the client prevents you from completing your job, it's not your fault. You should get paid, at least partially or according to the contract.
Yes that's not his fault. you get your pay according to the agreement maybe something a little bit lesser

If there was no issue on the side of your friend, and he has done part of the job, then yes he should request for something, even if it's not up the actual payment.
