The family of a Benue man, Tartenger Terdue James, is in a panic mood after suspected kidnappers abducted him five days to his wedding.

It was gathered that James was kidnapped on Tuesday evening, December 9, 2025 while travelling to Cross River State to buy palm oil for his traditional marriage which is scheduled for Saturday, December 13 in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.

Relatives say the abductors are demanding N3 million and have threatened to kill him and dump his body by the roadside if the ransom isn’t paid.

It is truly heartbreaking to hear about the kidnapping of Tartenger Terdue James just before his wedding. The anguish his family and loved ones must be experiencing is immense, and the threat posed by the kidnappers adds another layer of despair. It is lamentable that in our time there are still cases where people's lives and safety are threatened by the greed or cruelty of others, instead of seeking peaceful and respectful solutions. I sincerely hope that the authorities act swiftly and effectively to rescue James safe and sound, and that the kidnappers are brought to justice. No one should have to go through such a terrible ordeal, especially at such a joyous time as a wedding. The community must unite in solidarity and support, and demand that everything possible be done to ensure everyone's safety.

Five days to his wedding? I definitely won't want to wish this for anyone. I can only imagine what the families are going through right now.
