According to the report, as the Iranian regime expands its crackdown on protests in the country, the country's parliament has issued a threatening statement that it will issue a jihad fatwa if religious leader Ali Khamenei is attacked. Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said that an attack on the regime leader would be considered equivalent to a declaration of war, which would lead to a jihad fatwa and Islamic militants retaliating. The statement came after US President Donald Trump's statements about the search for new leadership in Iran and increased tensions in the region.
The report stated that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a similar statement earlier, saying this would be viewed as a declaration of war on the Iranian people. The Iranian president added that any aggression against the supreme leader of their country is tantamount to all-out war against the Iranian nation. Both these statements follow Khamenei calling Trump a criminal during a speech.
