The police have arrested 17 suspects in connection with the murder of a over alleged witchcraft in Ebonyi, Nigeria

News online is that, the police have arrested 17 suspects in connection with the murder of one Uromchi Okorocha over alleged witchcraft in Enohia Itim village, Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Nigeria


It was gathered that local youths accused Okorocha of k!lling several people through the use of witchcraft.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, January 5, 2025, said the Inspector-General of Police condemned this act of jungle justice in totality and urged citizens to refrain from taking laws into their own hands.

That was unfair killing someone for a belief that he's doing a witchcraft. They did not see the victim eating a human flesh. It's only a hearsay. It does not mean that because he looked poor he was condemned witch. They have to pay the crime.

Murder is murder. Even if the person was actually a witch, killing the person puts them in the same level as the so called witch.
