According to the report, the 5th Special Air Force of the Russian occupation forces lost 20,000 occupiers from September to December last year while attempting to capture Huliaipole in the Zaporizhia region. If the enemy fails to capture the city by the end of January, the Russian command intends to commit additional reserves to the battle. The report stated that since the beginning of 2026, the Russian occupation forces, unfortunately, had the opportunity to significantly expand their zone of control in Hulliaipole, effectively occupying 20 km of the city itself, and gaining a foothold in the northwestern part of the right-bank districts. Currently, the Russian occupation forces have control zones along the entire left bank of Huliaipole, as well as on the right bank of the city along Ukrainskaya and Velyka Streets, up to the area of the Central Cemetery and Selmash, and in the northwestern part, they have covered low-rise buildings along Ally Onoshko and Lesi Ukrainka Streets.
The report added that previously, the 37th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 36th OVA and the 5th Tank Brigade were forced to reinforce the depleted resources of what was once the main penetrating force in the South Donbas direction. The 5th OVA's losses from September to the end of December 2025 exceeded 20,000 men.
